  1. Yes Mexico gets along with Cuba. Many travel from Mexico to Cuba and vice versa.

Mexico agrees on the ultimate goal of establishing a free-market regime in Cuba (as with the U.S) but disagree on tactics to reach that goal. So they don't follow the same route as the U.S.

Mexico and Cuba currently hold many formal agreements on economic, educational, and cultural issues.

And of course a Mexican citizen can purchase things in Cuba.

However, a U.S citizen CAN purchase things in Cuba legally if they have a special license/permission from the U.S. government.

  2. Many Mexicans visit Cuba - there are several flights each day - and there are no special restrictions placed on what they can do.

Relations between the governments of Mexico and Cuba are more varied.

Mexico was the only Latin American country that maintained diplomatic relations.

A couple of years ago, Mexican President Vicente Fox asked Fidel Castro to leave a conference early so as not to embarrass George Bush. Fox then claimed he hadn't said any such thing - so Castro broadcast a tape of that conversation.

A former foreign minister of Cuba was denounced as having been a spy for Cuba. (The same minister had been accused by Cuba of being a pawn of the US.)

The current Mexican foreign minister is visiting Cuba now.
