I've never had one but was thinking about going down to the store and buying a premade Mojito. Are they any good? What do they taste like?

  1. if you like mint then you would probably like it, i personally hated it!  good luck, it tastes like a giant mint leaf!

  2. I don't normally like trendy anything, or foo foo drinks of any kind.  However, I found that I love mojitos.

Premade anything in the alcohol realm isn't as good as making your own.  Skip the premade c**p and buy some rum, limes, and mint leaves.  You can get the mint leaves in the produce section of any non-sucking grocery store.

    Here's a recipe, copied from:

    http://www.tasteofcuba.com/mojito.html

    Cuban Mojito recipe

the original authentic recipe from Havana Cuba

    1 teaspoon powdered sugar

Juice from 1 lime (2 ounces)

    4 mint leaves

    1 sprig of mint

Havana Club white Rum (2 ounces)

    2 ounces club soda

(If you repost this recipe or my comments, I'd love a link back to this web page as your source, thanks!)  There are countless recipes for the Mojito (pronounced moh-HEE-toh), but this version is for the one Hemingway himself enjoyed at the Mojito's place of birth: La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, Cuba.  If you are throwing a Cuban theme party (Havana night themed party), definitely plan on serving mojitos.

Place the mint leaves into a long mojito glass (often called a "collins" glass) and squeeze the juice from a cut lime over it.  You'll want about two ounces of lime juice, so it may not require all of the juice from a single lime.  Add the powdered sugar, then gently smash the mint into the lime juice and sugar with a muddler (a long wooden device pictured below, though you can also use the back of a fork or spoon if one isn't available).  Add ice (preferably crushed) then add the rum and stir, and top off with the club soda (you can also stir the club soda in as per your taste).  Garnish with a mint sprig.

  3. At first yeah, but it's definitely NOT something you can get drunk off of. The taste is too weird. Having too many makes it taste like bug spray. Not that I know what bug spray tastes like but yeah..

  4. Ingredients are:

    Light Rum

    Lime juice

    Sugar (Syrup)

    Crushed Mint Leaves

    Soda Water

If you like the taste of rum, lime and mint, i'm pretty sure you'll like it.

Depends on what you get, sometimes the mint is very subtle, so lime is more important taste-wise.

Very good refreshing drink in my opinion.

    Cuba Libre.

  5. Great Drink. Most of those who didn't like it made it the lazy way, by actually having bits of mint leaves in the drink. Those taste bad after a while of chewing on them, and are unpleasant when your drunk.

The secret to a good mojito is to crush (tenderize) the mint leaves without cutting them. That way, you can strain them out easily and still get the fresh mint taste, which along with the lime makes for a great flavorful mix that can take lots of alcohol.

I personally like to keep some mint essence in my fridge, which is made by putting lots of mint leaves in boiling water for 5-10 minutes then straining them out. Makes life so much easier, and it also can be used for a fresh Around The World drink or added to a cup of hot tea for those pesky hangovers.

  6. there great but you need to get one made right from scratch no pre mix anything with raw sugar fresh lime and mint other wise dont bother

  7. I like them. I love the lime. It's so good. I like the bud light lime. It's the best!

  8. Yes they do, but only if you make them homemade. Here is the Liquor Live recipe:

They are also a great summer drink:

  9. They aren't bad, and I love the lime flavor, but the mint threw me off, personally. I prefer the straight lime like you find in a margarita. I don't know about that pre-made stuff though. Mine was a fresh on sitting in the Florida Keys!

  10. Oh, it's very good...well not the best thing in the world you get me but it's good. I think there's the BACARDI Mojito..it's very yummy...I'm more of a sweet tasting liquor like the above or marjarita, pina colada, wine coolers and I think the BM is my new favorite...of course daquiris and stuff are still top of the list.
