  1. Not a chance in h**l.

  2. No this will have no effect on the picture.

This protector only prevents high voltage surges from damaging your equipment.

  3. Actually a good surge surpressor will make the picture look better. I own the Monster 3600 but I also own two Tripplite Isobars and I can tell you the Tripplite Isobars do the same exact thing as the Monster only way way cheaper.

Surge surpressors clean up electrical line noise that occururring both within and outside your home.  It cleans it up before it reaches your connected gear.  By cleaning up the electrical interferance it can make your pictures edge enhancements sharper and actually make the white level on your screen a tad brighter.

When I first got into Home Theater I also bought into the Monster BS about it being the best, don't get me wrong Monster makes great products but they are way overpriced for what they do.  Tripplite actually was making electrical supression units a decade before Monster did.

A Monster unit can cost between 300.00 and 750.00 while a Tripplite Isobar can cost 70.00 and can be bought at OfficeMax or Staples supply stores.  Although the Tripplite is not as pretty when it comes to surpression looks don't really matter.

I have installed many many home theater systems and I always recommend Tripplite Surge Surpressors and Voltage Regulators over Monster Brand.  You get insurance with each product and it will cover any damage to connected gear if electricity was the cause of your gear being destroyed.

Now don't get confused and think a simple 10.00 power strip will protect your gear, it won't you need powerbanks with isolated transformers inside along with clamping features to shut off the power plug when the voltage gets too high or too low and will endanger gear.

But yes it will improve picture quality, not night and day difference but you will notice a slightly better picture and colors.

  4. No, it won't but sales people have been told they need to say that.  The profit margin on accessories (like overpriced surge protectors) at electronics stores is MUCH higher than on TV's etc.. That is why they push them so much.

A good surge protector that includes your cable connection is a MUST for all of your equipment.  You can get a good one for less than $50.  Check out home stores or even Walmart.

  5. No not directly. HOWEVER they do make the TV work better with noise reduction for AC power which can radiate onto your interconnects. By eliminating the noise at the strip it doesn't get passed on. Therefore you must have a lot of noise in the first place to see a difference.

Monsters power makes sense without the sales hype. I wager you got a overenthusiastic member of either BB or CC or maybe a low rent commissioned sales place right?

  6. Don;t see how it could. If the signal gong in is degraded, nothing in the surge protector is going to make it better. If you have  a crappy picture, check the wires coming up from your basement of outside. Try replacing them or if you see splitters inline, try to remove them and have one contiuous line going to the TV.

Every time you use a splitter or have a "break" in the line, a little bit of the signal is degraded.
