  1. Might depend on what definition you are saying that is the meaning of socialism.


  2. There are SO many misconception about the Montessori philosophy. This definitely falls into that category.

    Let's see, at the upper elementary and adolescent levels, the students learn how to run their own businesses. That certainly doesn't sound very socialistic to me!

    Important principles underlying the entire philosophy include: developing initiative, becoming independent, caring for self and others, becoming  responsible for one's own choices, maintaining a love of learning, learning the interdependence of all life, and most important, developing a concern for peaceful co-existence.

    Does this sound like a socialist agenda?
