Or do they not get any credit for fasting when on their period since they have to make up the days they missed when on their period after Eid Al Fitr? Salaam wa shukran. Wa Ramadan Mubarak.

What I mean is in case no one can figure out what I'm asking, is since Muslim women don't have to make up prayers missed when on their period, and they still get the same credit as they would if they were praying, do they get any credit for being on their period during Ramadan?

  1. I would think you would get 'credit' for fasting when you make up your fasts that you missed due to your period.  Also, there are many good deeds you can do while on your period, so it's not like you're missing all the benefit of ramadhan.

    Beary Nice - I believe it's after 10 days, not 7 days.

  2. wa salaam. i have never read anything to say that is the case. we are excused the same as a sick person, and we have to make it up the same as a sick person. i dont think that we get any "credit" for having a period and not fasting though, but at the same time obviously we arent getting any bad deeds for that as it is up to Allah , not to us. wa ramadan mubarak

  3. your not suppose to fast when on your period, but you can still get rewards for respecting those that are fasting, by reciting the names of Allah, reading hadeeth ext. regardless these days we miss will have to be made up after ramadan is over

  4. you don't get credit, as you are not fasting. you have to make up those days after ramadan. Now, you have one year from the date of the last day of ramadan to do this. you don't have to make it up in a row... any days you want.

Also, if your period is more than 7 days.. on the eighth day you can start, even if you are bleeding. Because the normal cycle is 7 days.. after that, it is out of your control.

Also, a lot of people think that they cannot read the Quran when on their period.. you can, just make sure you are clean..

a lot of misconceptions out there...

  5. If they use tampons, it's pretty much like you don't even have your period, so they don't need to miss out on anything.
