Question:

Do NASCAR fans think the woman who is claiming sexual AND racial harrassment is legit?

She's making it seem like this was pretty universal treatment. It would be one thing if she was accusing one guy but she claims it was her WHOLE chain of command. Thoughts?

  1. I'd believe her more if it were just one or two people she was accusing, and if she weren't asking for such an outrageous amount of money.

I'm not saying either way if it did or didn't happen, because no one knows that for sure other than the people involved, but it just sounds like a get rich quick scam to me..

  2. I'm not saying it didnt happen and while there seems to be some truth I dont think she will win her case. She could win if she wasnt asking for such a large amount of money and if she was only accusing maybe one or two people but she is accusing quite a few people. That would cause so many people to lose their jobs and there is always two sides to a story. I think there is more to this then anyone is letting on. I just dont believe she will win her case, and its causing a big controversy.

  3. You can see from reading above that this kind of mentality exists.

This woman is entirely credible, go to this link and hear her interview. It helps to see the real person in her own words.

Calling a person a "spade" is ignorant and only shows the attitude that leads to these kinds of charges.

These things happened, any person interested enough to read beyond the headlines will agree. Nascar needs to clean their house of these ignorant people. I wont stand for it if they do not and I am loosing respect for some of those here.

  4. It seems that no matter who it is people always want to make a buck by blaming someone else for their bad luck. (ie lawsuit) Funny, I was wondering when someone was going to pull the  'lawsuit' stunt the woman pulled with Nascar.

Honestly, I think they settle before going to trial, that's what she wants...$ It is a complete waste of taxpayers money and will unnecessarily tie up the court system.

It is my belief that the woman knew what she was getting into with Nascar and I think she had it in her mind from day one working for Nascar to bring a lawsuit like this on them.

It sickens me when people, anyone, male or female play the 'race' card. If this lawsuit was based ONLY on the s*x part of it, her being a woman or a man and having people expose themselves, my views would be way different.

It is my belief that the s*x (being a female) card is not the prime factor in this lawsuit, it is the 'race' card that is.

  5. Don't know about the racial aspect but officals involved have admitted sexual harassment and suspensions were doled out. Top brass at NASCAR have claimed they weren't aware of the situation. Unless she took her complaints to the top and was rebuked by the brass and can PROVE it she has no case against NASCAR only those involved. Concerning the racial aspect so many people have "cried wolf" for so long these claims have lost both credibility and sympathy much like the folk tale. Perhaps I should elaborate, a guy at work was a constant s***w up, and not a good employee. When he got arrested for driving w/o a liscence the plant manager went and bailed him out of jail. Two months later he was fired for not coming to work OR calling in. This individual lodged a racist complaint against the manager who took the time and $$$ to get him out of jail. Another instance- we called a temp agency to fill an open position. The guy they sent was worthless and you needed a crow-bar to get him out of the chair. He was let go after a week. when the temp agency sent another man he told me that the first guy had said that I was a racist!( 2nd guy A-A also) This claim stung as I am a white guy with dreadlocks, love reggae music and despise dumb rednecks and haven't a racist bone in my body, people are people.(except dumb rednecks). So "crying wolf" DOES happen and takes away from legitimate discrimination claims. P.S. The 2nd guy is now a supervisor here.

  6. The worse thing that can be done is for people to judge her by questions like this. The judging needs to be left up to the courts and the evidence which we as the fans have no clue as to what the actual truth is.

He might say this, she might say that but EVIDENCE will have to be PROVEN in a court. Other than that this is just a bunch of chit chat amongst people who don't know what the real circumstances were.

Sexual harassment and racist remarks are made every day. Sometimes people aren't aware of them doing it. To some it's considered picking at someone or flirting. To others it may be offensive.

Again there is no way we can know the full details.

  7. I am dismayed to hear about this,I would think that people would be much more accepting of most people but I guess that is wrong. All I have to say is shame on you nascar, how dare they talk to her in such racist and sexual terms.225 million dollars is a lot of money and she should get herself something nice when the lawsuit is over.

  8. yes some people can be pretty nasty to others when they dont like certain things. Plus it is hard to tell whats going on i heard about it recently and was like if they did it they deserve no mercy. heck ya i am going to be on her side. its more girl power. However since i was not there i can only guess did it happen. This stuff is still going on in our world today. People just because of their race dont get certain jobs, crticized for who they are. IF  alot of men have been doing a particular job for a long and a girl comes in they feel threatened although not all like to admit. BUT everyone does. I say that she has a right to pursue a lawsuit if they did that to her .

i know that i would do what she is doing.

This stuff happens all the time so really yes.

You cant blame her and yes if he did it then he is at fault you cant say its all her. What are you trying to say she is not the victim here. dont question it because if it happened to her you dont know

  9. im confused whats it

    have to do with cars

    going around and around

    O.o

    whoa!

  10. yes, beth has it - i have no problem believing her claims are legit.  i'm listening to her interview on "nascar now" for the second time today and she is a fairly intelligent, well-spoken woman, and i believe her. and actions like firing one official named in her suit earlier this year for "reasons unrelated to the suit" and suspending two others named in her lawsuit for the reasons she's claiming sure help her credibility...

and saying she should only be accusing one guy is ludicrous. she seemed in the interview to be saying she handled one guy doing it, then another, then another, and when it became obvious that it was just more than "one guy" she had to make a tough decision - complain about what was going on and risk her job, or to go on accepting the abuse. so she did complain to the person in charge at the nationwide series level (joe balash) and she was told essentially to "get over it." all she has to prove is a hostile working environment, not to mention the racial and sexual harassment, and she's got a heck of a case.

  11. if you notice she was not much to look at by any means. which leads to the question why would they make an asault on her. she was probably in the garage area and some remark was made and she couldnt handle it. it just proves that there are jobs women SHOULD NOT have. and as far as the racial remarks you know that always comes into play when its a spade tryin to make a claim, i say shame on you nascar for trying to diversify.

  12. I think she's legit. The fact that NASCAR went out and started suspending people lends credibility to her claims. And if you notice, Brian France always addresses the fact that she didn't follow procedure in reporting the harassment. He questions the amount of money she's asking for. He doesn't question that the harassment happened.

I don't think she really expects to get all the money she's asking for--I think she's trying to make a point. I also don't think asking for an obscene amount of money is the way to make that point. It's only made people question her credibility.

  13. no why did she wit so long to say something. i just think that she was running out of money and used to work for them so she knows that they could give her the moneyif she won the battle but i dont think that she will since it happened so long ago
