Years ago at Parramatta, they had a US made "punting machine", like Cricket and Tennis do to continuesly punt high balls to train the outside backs in taking the ball under pressure. I think it was originally introduced by Jack Gibson (RIP) after one of hes many trips to the States! Seemed to work well back than, just wondering if its still in use and if NRL Teams still visit NFL Teams to learn new training techniques, back than Parra's "sister" Clubs were the Dallas Cowboys and 49'ers.

  1. Anthony Minichiello from the Roosters trains with tennis balls, harder to see and harder to catch, seems to work for him.

  2. They have done for ages.  Nike had a commercial, which was rejigged for the Australian market featuring Canberra Raiders fullback, Brett Mullins, chasing kicks from a machine.  He started on the field and worked his was to the stands, the car park and the streets in a nearby suburb.
