Question:

Do Northern Lights Make Lightening Look Different?

Just wondering - I know that the northern lights have something to do with Earth's magnetic field. Since a magnetic field can change the direction of electrical particles, like lightening, I wonder if it has any interesting effect or visa versa.

  1. It's an interesting question.  Typically, Northern lights are seen when it's clear, and lightning when it's cloudy.  But rainbows require both Sun and rain.

My guess is that lightning is too short to be noticeably affected.  It's only a couple miles long, usually.
