  1. All gas tanks have a specific regulator to fit them.  Regulator fittings are catorgorized by the letters "CGA" and various numbers:  580, 590, 330, 350, 660 etc.  Some regulator fittings are male threads, some female threads.  Some are regular-threaded, and some are reverse-threaded.  The type of regulator needed to fit your tank will be stamped someplace on the tank.  Then you can contact your gas supplier if you need a regulator.

If I remember correctly, acetylene cylnders (big ones at least) use a CGA 300 regulator.  Oxygen regulators vary depending on the size of the tank.  Be absolutely sure when working with acetylene and oxygen to get BRASS regulators.  Brass fittings won't spark if struck, while steel sometimes will.

  2. The regulators are sized the same supplier to supplier, but the oxygen and ace regulators themselves are different.

Many tank suppliers will supply regulators.
