  1. yes... once u win gold, u r made for life..

  2. A collection of bouquet they get when receiving the medal. Lol

  3. No prize money from the IOC is awarded....this is still supposed to be the best amateur sports competitors.

No professionals were allowed to compete until back when they let the first NBA dream team compete. Just because we (USA) were using college kids to play against the Soviets and communist teams (hockey and basketball) that were made up of members of the armed forces so they could still be counted as non-professionals. Even though they were only in the armed services to become better players.

  4. Depends on different country. - how desperate the country needs the medals.

From my knowledge, the NZ athletes don't get anything (They do their job based on passion !).

Singapore, the bronze get S $750,000. Gold will get $1.5 mil.

China, they get a lot of $ too (not sure how much), plus free choice of University.

I heard the commenter said the Jamaican who won 2 gold, "is a millionaire now !".

  5. It varies by country and that sports governing board.

    In the US

    Gold: $25,000; Silver: $15,000; Bronze: $10,000

This was in response to the generous gifts and money some of the rest of the countries bestowed upon their athletes.

The amount given from the U.S. Olympic Committee may be pittances compared to many countries.  That amount may be nothing to Kobe Bryant, yet it may mean a lot more than the dollar amount to someone like Henry Cejudo.  But I doubt that Khatuna Lorig was thinking much about cash when she was edged out of the semifinals into 5th.

I do find it heartening how some spend this prize money.  Joey Cheek donated his 2006 earnings to an organization that promotes sports for underprivileged children.

With the adversity highlighted by the efforts of Samia Yusuf Omar of Somalia, promoting sports around the world is a most worthwhile endeavor.

  6. Yes, 25 K for a gold medal in US and less for a silver or bronze.

  7. yes..in some countries..some even get cars and houses...in america they get endorsements...which is good money
