Do Olympic athletes get anything else besides medals?

I'm curious to find out whether Olympic winners get monetary awards besides their medals? If yes, how much for the gold, silver, bronze medal winners ?

Not from the Olympics I don't think, but many countries give money for gold, which I find kind of lame.

Romanian rowing was offed $250,000 each for a gold.

No money for the prizes but lots of publicity and lots of opportunities for endorsements and to train others for years.  They get offers of shows and exhibitions and get to promote clothing and shoes etc.

So it is afterards when they get the big opportunities.

Some will be paid money for winning Gold.

They get large monetary awards based on their performance from their sponsors i.e. Michael Phelps gets a $1 million dollar bonus for winning 7+  gold medals

the top 8 in each event get a certificate of accomplishment  all olympians get a medal of competition no money

yeah, most will get money - along with fame...

the prices change for each but i think its usually in the $20 000 -

$200 000 for the wealthy countries and just $2000 for the poorer countries.

Not from the International Olympic Committee, but they do from their own countries. I believe Vladimir Putin, for example, offered $150,000 to a Russian who won a gold medal.

4 years ago, Nike posted a $1,000,000 reward for anyone that could win more than 7 gold medals in one Olympic competition (Phelps did that this year).

There are likely many other similar awards.

Endorsements, reputation, commercial deals, speaking events, book deals, they can get into almost any school or company they want to.  Most of them are set for life.
