  1. There is no easy answer to this one.

    The very first version of the PS3 that was released basically had a PS2 chip inside of it, so that every ps2 game would run in it.

    Later, Sony discontinued this version, and instead included software emulation for some PS2 games on the ps3.  For the most part, this emulation sucked and was very limited.

    As far as I know, there are no current models of PS3 that support PS2 games.  This is actually OK, because you can get a new ps2 for about the same cost as a dual shock 3 ps3 controller and a new game.


  2. Yes. But you have to open the PS3 case, scoop out the guts, then hot-glue the PS2 innards and hook it back up. After that every PS2 game will work just fine. However you may have some compatibility difficulties with PS3 games.
