  1. Yep, we drink from bols (bowls), be it coffee, tea or hot chocolate. As said above, it is easier to dip your croissant or your tartine (buttered bread). Besides, one needs a good breakfast to start the day. The coffee cups are too small.

The origin of the bowl comes from before coffee and chocolate were brought to Europe, when it was soup that was drunk for breakfast in those bowls. We kept the bowls and changed the liquid.

Of course cups and mugs are used too, but the bol is the main container.

  2. I thought they drank those potent muddy coffee in a small cup?

  3. Having your coffeee in a bowl is done at home. Reason: it's larger to dip your croissant in it than in a small cup.

  4. There is no general rule. So just have a cup, some have a bowl ("bol" in french). So don't drink coffee at all!

  5. Been there, done that!  Yes, they do!   They get more coffee that way and it cools faster!

  6. In France, people ususally drink coffee from a bowl for breakfast. And not only in Paris.

Why? To dip croissant or bread in there.

  7. I don't think they use bowls instead of cups in the morning. I don't know how you can actually find out the answer. BUT GOOD LUCK

  8. I had never heard such a thing.
