Do Pc speakers still connect to your headphone socket in you pc?

I have some really old Pc speakers that you can plug into the headphone socket on your pc. So I have been able to also plug them into my tv's headphone socket and get good sound. So i was just wondering if new 2.1 speakers work the same way? And can i plug them into my tv?

as long as you have the correct conector. you can purchase a phono to 3.5 jack if thats what your having problems with.

Most often now a days there is a separate dedicated output for speakers in addition to the headphone jack.

IF your soundcard has a line out you'd be better of with that one, but the headphones out works, too.
