Question:

Do Police Radars take a picture of your car or pull you over?

Was just doing 90km/h in a 60km/h zone. It was early in the morning, not a car on the road so i decided to hammer it up the hill and coming the opposite way was a cop car. Suprise suprise. Was stupid of me!

Thing is, although he was coming opposite direction, i saw no flash. When my lights hit his car, i saw a red flash, however im thinking that was just the reflection off his siren. When i looked in my mirror he was breaking slightly, however he didn't turn around to book me.

Do they take a picture or something? Or is it possible that they didn't get me? It all happened very fast, we just came around the corner and crossed paths! I wasnt spotted from a distance or anyhting :S

Any help?

  1. If it was a cop car, he/she would have pulled you over, they don't take pictures of passing cars. You'll be fine, this time!

  2. No doubt if he didn't turn around he didn't clock you.  Relax, I really doubt you'll hear anything about it.

31 years in law enforcement, and I've never seen a ticket mailed to a person by a mobile unit.  Only traffic lights that have mounted cameras are used for this.  They still have problems proving it was you in the vehicle most of the time.  They cannot write your CAR a ticket, so unless it's clearly you, they don't bother.

  3. No picture, watch the mail for a citation.
