  1. No, but they all have expenses.   Transportation, food, living, caddie fees.  If they miss the cut they get nothing (most of the time) but still have these expenses.  In some cases though top golfers can receive appearance fees regardless of whether they win, play well, or miss the cut.


  2. No they do not have to pay fees (that is what the card is for)...  BUT, only a certain number can get in, so it is a combination of first in and sponsors exemptions that fill out the majority of the field - with a handful (at most) qualifying spots at any event.

  3. It depends upon what you mean by pro. The PGA Tour guys don't pay. Their ability to get in is dependent upon their card status.

    That said, at the minor leagues of golf, in what's known as the mini-tours, there ARE entry fees. These fees, along with some sponsors money, typically are divided out as the purse for the winners.
