They will try to nibble on anything they see. Mice eat less than rats, but they do nibble on cardboard, paper or other things.

Yes, if they manage to get it. Their are some things that are poisonous to them though, just like some things are poisonous to us.

Here is a list of things they should NOT eat:

Uncooked Beans

Raw sweet potato (must be cooked!)

Green potato skin and eyes

Carbonated drinks (rats can`t burp!)

Onions

Citrus Fruits

Peanut butter (it is not posionous to rats but it can get lodged down their throat!)

raw bulk tofu

Licorice

Blue cheese
