Do School's FLouresent lights burn stuff?

Ok so at my school theres like a whole in the ceiling and I threw my pencil case up because I was playing with it and it got stuck up there now should I worry about my pencil case catching on fire ?

no. they do not generate enough heat

They don't get hot enough to burn wood or paper. That is what makes them efficient. Unlike incandescent light bulbs, they don't waste a bunch of electricity making themselves hot. They just make light with very little waste heat.
