  1. no they don't..... the more science improves, the more the mystery goes deeper in the abyss.... and we only have one remaining resort to explain this - the existence of god...

anyways dear, don't try to understand the bible by it's literal connotations because it'll just confuse you. it's a story book just like your cinderella and rapunzel, so full of exagerrations... try to have a look at its deeper meaning... the bible is not what it sems to be. it has more to tell you.... and science helps..... try reading dan brown's angels and demons, you may get inspired...

  2. science, as far as the big bang theory is concerned, supports creation in the bible. the first chapter of genesis accurately describes the formation of a dark nebukous body, which we now know is how planets are formed. is that what you were asking?

  3. Science can help people properly translate the bible and most times its works out pretty well between the two.

    People suck!

  4. Yes, the bible asks you to pretend something is true, science demands that you show evidence that something is true.

Unless one or the other changes dramatically there can be no harmony.

  5. When the Bible was written, people had little understanding of science. Who did Adam & Eve's children have children with if they were the first people on earth? How did Noah get 2 Pollar Bears on the Arc if he didn't know that they existed?

  6. i think they have more in common than what people think. you can argue apple is different from orange, but i say they are both fruit.

since there are more athiest/agnostics here, then i'll attempt to take the role of theist here on some of popular dispute that i see on these forums:

reason vs. faith: to have reason you have to begin somewhere, axioms, which are granted. faith is more or less the same as axioms and rules in reasoning, numbers, or formal systems. at the end of the reason argument is a self-referencing/circular reasoning or statement aka, faith. in contrast, every statement in the bible should be taken more as theorems like blind men describing the elephant, there is little or no room for classical reasoning.

creationism vs. evolution: ironically, i think darwin believe in intelligent design. reading origin of species while trying to be awake, i personally find more independent differences than evolution. anyhow, evolution is still a theory, which is still potentially fallible, albeit minute. there are other possibilities to either/or mentality to the problem, such as evolutions coming after creationism. possible solution to infinite regression problem god create god create god... is circular or god as the first cause which evolution comes after, or god is symbolic representation of infinite.

contradictions of omni-x*x: such as can god create a boulder so heavy that he can't lift it. the vatican  has declared that god is omnipotent as long as it's logically possible. my answer is omni-x*x is similar to quantum theorist call potential. thiest's omni view emphasis that schordinger's cat is both dead and alive. whereas classical logicians would find it contradictory, weird, and absurd. i think they are correct and wrong depending which side of the coin you are looking at. god is omni-x*x in the sense that a blank piece of paper could be and is mona lisa, modern art, nonsensical chaotic garbage, picture of angels chorus, or devil boiling people in a fire cauldron. the ego fallen from god takes the paper into form then tries to explain everything based on forms. the soul ego creates its own reality where it pridefully sits center stage, dethroning god, binary rejecting that himself is another expression of the infinite.

  7. I think that religion can and should be approached in a scientific way.  In fact i have been doing that for the last 15 years - exploring the measurable effects of different spiritual practices, and religions, and trying to find an explanation for how it all works.

I have come to understand to some extent the principles behind spirituality and religion.  And i would certainly say that the bible can have a very beneficial effect on the reader if approached in the right way.

If you are interested i am offering a free online course "the science of spirituality"

  8. There is always a conflict betwen those that study and investigate the Bible, with those that study and investigate science. Both have to be study and investigate.

Science it is study and has to be investigate in the natural way, but the Bible has to be study and investigate in the natural way, and also in the spiritual way. Only those that have a convertion with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord will give the acknowledge and the wisdom to understand it in the spiritual way.

Because God is the Creator, He knows it all, but God let men to enter in His business, for him to discover God's work. He is Almighty.

Harmony, I doubt it, but only those that know both ways can understand the meaning of both, the natural and the spiritual, then there will be harmony betwen them.

    God bless you
