Do Sea Cows taste like land cows?

Has anyone ever eaten a manatee before? What was that animal that they ate in 20,000 Leagues under the sea? It was like a giant manatee right?

It has a strong flavor that resembles elephant with just a nuance of walrus.  The Manatees on the Atlantic side of Florida also have a slight fishy taste, which is absent from the Manatees on the gulf side.  It is great with a dash of rosemary and a sprig of parsley.

It is great with a side of steamed sea urchins and a glass of

sea cucumber milk.

Having spoken with some of my local old-timers who remember an era before endangered species even existed and remember their fathers coming home with manatee from time to time...

(remember, this is hearsay, but straight from the horse's mouth)

Manatee tastes better than steak.

Manatee's are a protected species and illegal to hunt or kill.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was a movie....not everything that happens in movies is real or possible.....

Ive never heard of anyone eating manatee meat.

I doubt that they taste like beef - but who knows...
