Question:

Do Soldiers still get mail and packages while on an exercise?

My Soldier is in Kuwait on an exercise and he hasn't been able to communicate with me since he left. I was wondering can he still receive mail out there or not. I have sent packages and letters will he get them or will they keep them until he returns back to the base. Will this delivery take longer than normal?

Thank you

  1. Is he a husband or boyfriend?  If he is a husband and is in Kuwait then most likely he is deployed.  He will be going to Iraq.  Call his unit and find out who his FRG (Family Readiness Group) leader is.  They will know everything.  They will know where he is and names, dates, and addresses.  If he is a boyfriend then you could try but I'm not sure if they will release the info without his permission.  Just send your stuff to the address you already have and wait for a response.

  2. Are you sure it's an "exercise" and not a deployment.  On exercises, they don't usually change the routing of regular mail.  Deployments are different, and usually forward mail.  But even on exercises, troops usually have access to commercial e-mail.  Sorry, he may be giving you the run-around.
