I thought it would have been more the English taking the mickey out of the Germans. I lived in Germany a few years back and we used to joke with German friends, Das ist eine grosse scheiserhauser (sorry, I know the spelling is wrong...)

Never heard it when I was over there. Never hear it here either. Some seniors that were POWs during the war call them krauts but mostly they are called

It was just a bit of light humor and I did not mean to offend anyone by it.

But to answer your question, yes I hear people here say it all the time.

I think it has something to do with what we get fed in the Hollywood movies.

That - and possibly also dating back to the World War, I used to work for a "Very" Englishman - each time we went to look at new technology, which was almost always something engineered by the Germans - that would absolutely blow our socks off - he used to say things like - "Well atleast we won the war".

I have found Germans to be cold and rude. Its almost like they think they are a superior race?
