  1. Here in Lawton, Oklahoma special ed teachers get paid an additional 5%. Some places offer a stipend, but not all.

  2. NO, not in Missouri.

  3. Not in my district. Special ed teachers are on the same pay scale as all other teachers but have different responsibilities that often involve additional paperwork.

  4. At my brothers special school the teachers get paid extra as they work longer hours and some of the people live there and depending if they need one on one help the carer gets paid more.

  5. When I was job searching  all of the districts I was looking at had SPED teachers at the same base pay as regular ed teachers. A few of them had an additional stipend for SPED, but they were large urban districts here in Arizona.

  6. nope - high school teachers do not get more either.  It mostly depends on your years of education and years of experience.  Sometimes it might seem like Special Education teachers get more - but for some categories - additional credits are required or advanced degrees.

  7. not necessarily and they often work harder.
