Actually, there are scientific documents (the "Physiologia Plantarium", which is "Plant Physiology" which describes the latest science in farming and plant sciences) which pretty well describes how "balls of light" can cause some crop circles, using a point-source of radiation. This submission was peer-reviewed and accepted, then published by Dr. Eltjo Haselhoff, PhD. (And no, I checked, he's no relation to David.)

Dr. Haselhoff measured hundreds of nodes from several crop circles, finding that certain nodes of plants had actually expanded from an unknown source of heat, and stayed expanded. Because Dr. Haselhoff is a physicist, he surmised that the nodes should be longer in the centers of the circles if these "balls of light" which had been filmed were indeed emitting radiation from a single point in space (this kind of a single point is called a "point source" and is similar to the effect of light from a light bulb). His measurements were confirmed, and the physics that show what caused crop circle formation were fairly elementary. The model matched perfectly with electromagnetic radiation from a point-source.

Videos of crop-circle formation have been largely admitted as fakes, though there are a couple which are questionably authentic (note that I didn't simply say "authentic"). However, with the physics matching the early videos of these balls of light, it appears that circular crop circle formations match up with the straightforward physics used.

I'm not sure what to believe with this one,having never seen a UFO or an alien I'm still a skeptic. A few people in Britain have come forward claiming responsibility for the circles but in my opinion they always seem far to large and precise for a couple of blokes with some rope and flat wooden planks. This brings me round nicely to the alien part, has anybody ever noticed that the circles or shapes left are eerily like the sacred geometrical shapes that we seem to have forgotten about in this modern world ( The tree of life, Vesica piscus etc, etc) and also the Koch curves related to chaos theory.

What they all mean is certainly open to interpretation and we may never find out who or what really makes or causes them but as long as they keep appearing I'll keep wanting to believe.
