Question:

Do These Alternative Therapies Help Pain???

by  |  earlier

I have been taking pain medicines for Fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, degenerative disc disease, kyphosis and spondylosis. I am thinking of quitting seeing my current pain doctor and seeing a new one who practices alternative pain management.

She uses these therapies:

Biofeedback

Electronic Acupuncture

Nutrician

Quantum Healing

Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy

This new doctor told me she would prescribe the current medicines I am taking with the understanding I will be weanedd off of them as my body heals. Do you believe any of these new therapies can or do help?

Thank you.

  1. Well, I know a lot of alternative treatments which work for pain, and strangly non of them are on that list.

Additionally, I think a few of what was listed are quite bad, and their presence would lead me to assume a lack of competency in other ones which somewhat work (ie. biofeedback).

That said, I think you basically have 3 things to consider pursuing.

    1) Seeing a good accupuncturist...and one that does not use electricity.  If you live by san francisco, I can recommend one to you, but otherwise, you'll have to figure out a way to find a good one on your own (which can be a pain).

    2) Applying DMSO to your body (a pure form needs to be applied to cleans skin), but that will fix a lot of the inflammatory and tissue damage problems you have, while also being one of the best pain killers on the market.

    3) Learn a good chi gung form (most forms are not in this category unfortunately).  There are a few I know of which basically have fixed people in your state before (although I admit I've never seen someone having all the conditions you listed at the same times).  If you did a small ammount of them, it would probably be possible to drastically reduce the problems you are having, but if you wanted to take approach to get the job done completely, it would take about 10 years for everything to go back together to being give or take perfect.

That said, if you're interested in pursuing this option, message me and I'll be happy to provide you with all the relevant information.

I'd personally go for option 3 since you have a chronically degenerative condition which will eventually require (mostly harmful) surgery to correct, using painkillers just gives you a temporary reprive.

  2. Yes, I believe that these therapies can definitely help. Give it a try, what have you got to lose.

  3. I don't believe so, but I have no personal experience with them.  I'm doing just fine with my pain management doctor so I recommend that method of treatment.  I believe it won't do squat for your DDD and kyphosis because you're not treating the cause of the pain, but rather the symptom.

  4. They can certainly help heal the conditions that are causing the pain, which can help to reduce and/or eliminate the pain. I have heard from many people that they have gotten relief from many therapies like (and including) these. Good luck!

  5. while alternative medicine it beneficial at times--it is not a miracle..they may make the conditions somewhat more manageable, but there is also a chance they will not help at all and only hurt your finances..

    i tried nutrition--and got worse

    tried acupuncture--it did nothing

i don't think it will actually help heal anything--just help your body and your mind to manage the symptoms.
