Do Tom Tom Tamales have MSG in them or any other source of gluten?

I know its not listed on the package but I know someone that has a allergy to MSG or anything with gluten in it such as flour. When the listing has natural flavors it gets me thinking about the MSG.

Thanks

  1. MSG is not a source of gluten.  MSG stands for monsodium glutamate.

  2. actually i think she's right. MSG can be gluten free. it is true that sometimes glutamate is sometimes made from wheat, but it can also be made from soy or corn (which would make it gluten-free).

however, approx 30% of people have a reaction to MSG & if you already have allergies/intolerances you should avoid MSG as an additive. i am gluten & lactose intolerant, but MSG doesn't bother me.

anyway, you can write or call the manufacturer to find out:

Tom Tom Tamale & Bakery CO

    4750 S Washtenaw Ave

    Chicago, IL , 60632-2003

    Phone: 773-523-5675

    good luck!
