  1. yes but you can buy a lot with the tickets you get for following to close or crashing into them....

  2. yes its the draft factor that applys the vehicle if larger than yours  breaks the wind an u travleing behind it causes u to draft behind it your engine will have to work less meaning a save in gas even tho speeds have to be of acess of 45 to 50 mph to even make a difference but i wouldnt reccomend to much of this becuz of the risk of u rearending them or they have to all of the sudden apply the breaks safty first i hope i was a help

  3. Yes, but you have to follow pretty close in order for it to be effective... which will make most drivers pretty angry. Bigger trucks like a tractor-trailers gives a few more feet distance to play with, on long Interstate Highway travel it helps as much as 10 percent or so (give or take).  It's called "drafting".

  4. No.  You have to be following a truck and very closely.

Most cars are very efficient with wind.  So the car in front won't break the wind much.  And even with a truck you have to follow the truck pretty close.  They tested this theory on MythBuster TV show.

The above poster used the term "drafting".  That is a term used in car racing (mostly in NASCAR).  But even then they only apply to large track racing where the speed approach 200 MPH.  The smaller tracks where the cars speed around from 80 MPH to 140 MPH, drafting is not a huge factor.

    Good Luck...
