Is there a chance that they sometimes arrive earlier than the scheduled delivery date?

  1. Almost always. A package COULD end up at a facility near you earlier, but UPS will hold the package at that facility in order to protect the integrity of their service options.

What I mean by that is that if people knew they could pay to send something on a two day schedule, but it consistently arrived the next day, they would never pay higher rates for overnight shipping.

If you need something and are wondering if it will come earlier, try calling UPS. You may be able to have it held for pick it up at your local facility, and you can go get it there as soon as it arrives (which could be a lot earlier than the scheduled delivery time). Or you can have UPS upgrade the service in some cases.
