Question:

Do Underfloor Engines bother you?

Since the introduction of the high speed diesel units in the UK (Virgin Voyagers, Great Western Adelantes, Midland Meridians) I've heard a lot of enthusiasts complaining about the noise and vibration. Yet I myself barely notice it.

So is the 'People don't want to sit over a noisy engine' argument true or is it just a case of them trying to find fault

  1. I think that it is not true, as you can also barely notice it.  The problem is that the enthusiasts want loco hauled trains...   so they complain about the diesel trainsets.

  2. with soundproofing it is just as quiet as having the engine elswhere.... i work with coaches in the UK and coaches are built with underfloor diesel engines and have been for years!

  3. I think people just need to complain about something! tell them to get over it! better thsn walking to there destination.
