Not shopping lists, I dont mean them, cos they are common with a lot of people!

Do you ever make 'lists' of stuff you have to do around the house?

Im looking for the eccentric ones among us.

A friend asked me the other day how I was getting along with my decluttering, and when I told her, I had to really think what I had done myself. and that is I make lists!

I list what Iv got to do throughout the task.. and then AS I do the jobs, I cross them off the list..It feels GREAT!!

I was just wondering if anyone else does this?

And do you sometimes do something thats NOT on the list and then ADD it so you can CROSS IT OFF!!

Now I KNOW Im completely bonkers!!!!! PWxx

  7. I am constantly making lists..

weather it be what I need to do for the day,

what I need from the store,

what I want to donate to good-will,

I make lists of numbers at work,

I make wish lists, lists of projects I wish I had time to do,

lists of people I want to invite to a party,

I make lists in my head, on paper, with crayons, markers, pens,or lip liner,

lists in my dreams of stuff I have to get together in the morning before I leave for work,

    lists of...

I just made a list of lists!

  8. I do that, too!

It might just be that I have a terrible memory though and I am more inclined to do something if I've written it down, but I write down a to-do list for everything I need to do in my apartment.

    You're not alone!

  9. I hear ya sista. I'm exactly like that. Oh how I love those lists.

  11. yeah i do the same thing!!..i like to see all the things i've accomplished..i always have to crumple up the list and throw it in the garbage when im done so no one will see the ridiculously small things i've written like, take shower. feed kids. brush teeth. sweep floor.

and when im decluttering, i put: take c**p to goodwill. get rid of junk. put trash outside.

    hah...oh well.

  12. Oh heck yes!  I would never get anything done if I didn't make lists!  I think it keeps things from getting overwhelming; you're breaking it down in to smaller, more manageable pieces that all point towards a greater goal.

Actually, I first learned the technique from a counselor I was seeing after I left my 1st husband who was abusive.  I had a lot of "work" to do and just didn't know where to start.  She taught me not to look at the big picture and get overwhelmed but to take one piece at a time, deal with it and mentally put it on the done pile.

  13. Guilty as charged. LOL!

My life is so busy if Idon't do lists I forget important stuff.

I also use lists to focus my mind and energy - if I decide to clean the house, I make a list of the top 5 or 10 things to do, commit to a 2 hour or so time frame and get going.  Then it gets slightly crazy as to make sure I keep the pace going, I put on music and set myself goals like loading the dishwasher before the end of the next song etc

Yeah it's crazy, but it a way of getting stuff done.

If you have a minute please answer my question.

  14. Yep,  I even add it so that I can cross it off to see where I have been or give me credit. lol

The worst part is when I misplace my list!

  15. You are not alone!!!! In everyday life, there is little to rival the satisfaction I get when I cross something off a list.  I make lists of home repairs, errands, decluttering, things to pack on a trip---no task is to small to merit a list.  And I don't feel bad if I don't get everything done at one time, so there is no pressure.  I just go back to the list the next day if it isn't finished.  And yes, if I do something I've been putting off doing that is not on my list, I go back and add it in BIG LETTERS at the top so that I can cross it off.

  16. i do it all the time.

i make alot of different lists. sometimes for things i need for school the next day.

and everytime i know im going somewhere for a vacation trip, i always write down what i need to take so i know i have everything.

it's just something i do to keep my mind on track.

  17. Yes! But I do life lists mainly - stuff I want to achieve before I hit 30, things like that! But it's so good, my desire to cross things off the list really pushes me to achieve my goal - I even did a skydive coz even though I was terrified I told myself "well if I do this, I can cross it off".  That's was pushed me to do it! lol! You're right, we list-makers are crazy! But they're a good idea!

  18. yes haha and yes haha.

    its the only way....ya know

  19. I'm obsessed with lists.  I actually had to cut back, because it was literally making me crazy.  Now I just put the really important stuff on the list, and just wing the rest.

  20. My mates parents have a list of household things and they cross it off, i will make odd lists and notes but they always end up on separate bits of paper everywhere which is inconvenient.
