This slight sense of a big event coming to an end. I guess cause I know it's only once every 4 yrs.I'm not even this big sports fan at all, but whenever the Olympics come around, I always wish I had tickets & when they end, I feel a slight sense of regret for not watching ALL of it. lol-

I always watch the beginning & then trail off & catch it randomly. The events that're must-sees, I catch. Like I hadda see the Mike Phelps race.

But I gotta watch Jimmy Page at closing ceremonies! :)

  1. Not this year, I'm glad they're over.

  2. Yes.  I love the Olympics.  This was a great Olympics and very beautifully done.  The Winter Olympics, however, will take place in another two years and I look forward to it.

  3. Honestly, no.  While I like the events of the winter editions much better than the summer, given the fact that they have changed the Olympics from their original meaning makes me less inclined to watch.  No matter what country, ~~professional~~ athletes do not belong in games meant to showcase amateur talent.  To me, bending that rule and letting the pros in from numerous countries in numerous sports taints it.

I've watched none of the Olympics.

  4. Despite all the issues with doping & generally unethical behavior, I've often found the Olympics to have a certain magical quality. I can get caught up in the individual stories (the Cochran skiing family at Sapporo in '72, the USA boxers at Montreal in '76, Belarus gymnast Svetlana Boginskaya at Barcelona in '92, et al) and the games take on their own level of drama. So there is a kind of let down when the closing ceremony begins. One wishes there was just a bit more....one or two extra events that are really entertaining to watch. Icing on the cake, you know?

  5. No I'm glad it's over I used to love watching but these days too much cheating plus I am disgusted with the way they let a lovely little girl down for the singing in the opening I thought she was real and cute, they really should be ashamed of themselves

  6. I always watch the olympics when it comes on.

    I guess i'll feel sad.

  7. Nope, not one bit.

I don't have any interest in the Olympics whatsoever and I find it even worse that people are paying so much attention to these games and ignoring the real issue there. So, no, I'm glad of their ending.

  8. I'm the same way! I never want to stay up at night to watch them but now that they're almost over, I feel like I should have watched them over the past 2 weeks. There's always the winter Olympics to look forward too, and I don't know if your into the horses but there is the 2010 FEI world equestrian games at the kentucky horse park.

  9. yeah hopefully theyll release the videos and NBC wont tell youtube to ban vids

  10. yes! its extra sad how it only happens every four years and how the olympics is home to tears triumphs tantrums, emotions that run wild!

So many achievements that are reflected onto countries are missed for another four years =[

  11. Rather quickly, I get very tired of all the rabid nationalism inflicted upon us by the supposedly non-political Olympics.

And if I never hear the name Michael Phelps again, it will be too soon. The media is very good at beating something to death until it is utterly destroyed.

  12. I do.  Especially since I didn't get to watch much of them because of work.  I tried to watch it on the t.v at work, but the rednecks kept turning it to racing or football.  Oh well, maybe I'll ask off the next time around!  It just seems to fly by!

  13. Yes I miss it too. It's not just the "sports"

It's seeing the host city/country opening up to the world

It's people trying their best in competition from different circumstances

    Seeing raw human emotion

Seeing a small county win bronze and seeing the immense pride and joy as if it were gold

It's also about champion athletes and teams battling out for gold

Seeing the harmony between athletes and in the stadium. It's like the world is a much better place albeit for a couple weeks

I'm going to miss it for sure. China has been a magnificent host and made it enjoyable

  14. only 538 days till the next games

  15. Definitely sad to see it come to an end.

I've enjoyed a lot of time watching with my kids. They get to see sports they have never seen and more importantly, international people getting along civilly.

It's also sad because you realize 4 years has just flown by, again.

  16. Yes, I will miss it. The Chinese put on a great show!

  17. Omg I know how you feel.  Well what can we do.  I do feel sad especially these games because they were truly unique and historical and so unexplainable!  This was the first time that I watched the full Olympics; in Athens I just saw diving and track & field.
