  1. The majority of jobs require a Work Permit (called a Green Card) for non-citizens. A few government jobs require a USA citizenship. Any legal money requires a social security tax number.

  2. yes, unless you can find a job that pays cash (which is hard to find).

  3. Firstly, a Green Card isnt another name for WORK AUTHORIZATION. The Work Authorization document is a i-765.

    To answer your question:

You need a work Authorizarion (i-765) to work in the USA if you arent a citizen. If you come on a student visa, you can work on campus as long as you have your visa (F1 visa). If you are a greencard holder or a US citizen, you can work too.

  4. NO

  5. To do any job, no, you don't need to be a US Citizen. To work, you just need a document that grants work authorization from USCIS/Department of Homeland Security.

This can come in many guises, such as an I-766 card (Employment Authorization Document), an I-551 card (also known as a green card for Lawful Permanent Residents, a valid work visa such as a H1B).

Just as a note, I-765 is the form you use to apply for an EAD card. The card itself is I-766.

However, even if you have one of these documents that makes it legal for you to work, there are still some jobs that only US Citizens can get. Any job at a federal level requires citizenship, as do some jobs for defense contractors due to the security clearance required.

  6. I dont believe so.

you just need a work visa.
