  1. I have a really good and easy recipe for goulash on my blog:

My mom used to make this and I've continued the tradition. She invented it because as kids, we didn't like everything she put in it - this is the picky kids version! I know it isn't actual 'goulash', but that's what mom always called it, so I'll keep the name, thanks!

    Ingredients:

1 lb. ground turkey (or ground beef)

1 16 oz. can tomato SAUCE

    1 pkg. small shell pasta

    1 yellow onion - diced

1 green bell pepper - diced

    Pinch of Taragon Leaves

    Pinch of Marjoram

Brown and drain ground meat (turkey or beef)

Cook shell pasta according to package directions while cooking ground meat - drain

Saute onions and peppers in butter while meat and pasta is cooking

Place meat, pasta, onions and peppers in a bowl

Add Tomato sauce, Taragon leaves and Marjoram - mix and eat

  2. At my house its a favorite and we keep it simple and cheap.  I like to cook down how much ever hamburger I want to use crumbling it while it cooks.  I like to add mushrooms and onions to this while cooking down.  Lots of seasoning and we like garlic in this as well.  Drain this well after cooked.  Add in some cooked elbow macaroni or whatever pasta you prefer.  I like to cook it first while the hamburger is cooking so I don't overdo the noodles.  This is where it varies.  We like to use either tomato juice OR speghetti sauce for the sauce. Either way, whatever you have on hand.  As a twist once I used brown gravy thinned as the sauce.  Again warm this mixture together and season to taste. A hit at my house always, cheap, quick, and easy.  Good luck!

  3. I use cooked elbow macaroni, jar spaghetti sauce, 1 carrot grated, 1 onion grated, 2 stalks celery chopped fine, 1 pound browned ground beef cooked with a couple cloves garlic, 1 package sliced mushrooms chopped in to smaller pieces. 1 tomato chopped and I will add chopped up zucchini or squash on occasion, if its on hand..

Mix it all together and heat through. I usually put a bowl of grated cheese on the table and some french bread..

This is a good way to get the veggies in the kids! and if I don't have a

  4. Hungarian Goulash

Here's the recipe, this is AUTHENTIC so there's no green peppers or tomatoes in it (Americans transformed it to add tomatoes, bell peppers and the easy tomato soup versions)

    2 lb. beef chuck

    1 tsp. salt

    2 onions, white or yellow

    2 Tbsp. lard or shortening

2 Tbsp. imported sweet paprika (most important to use real hungarian paprika for ultimate flavor)

    2 bay leaves

    1 Qt. water

    4 peeled and diced potatoes

    1/4 tsp. black pepper

Cut beef into 1 inch squares, add 1/2 tsp. salt. Chop onions and brown in shortening, add beef and paprika. Let beef simmer in its own juice along with salt and paprika for 1 hr. on low heat. Add water, diced potatoes and remaining salt. Cover and simmer until potatoes are done and meat is tender. Prepare egg dumpling batter:

    1 egg

    6 Tbsp. flour

    1/8 tsp. salt

Add flour to unbeaten egg and salt. Mix well. Let stand for 1/2 hour for flour to mellow. Drop by teaspoonful into Goulash. Cover and simmer 5 minutes after dumplings rise to surface.
