Go there to see it.

The one i had just died something weird happened with its neck I haven't stopped crying.

I took it in because the mother abandoned it and I

was actually doing a real good job until it woke up this morning and it's head just flopped around.

I preformed rescue breathing and it actually worked for 5 min then it was dead again. I feel horrible I just want it back in my arms again .

  1. This looks like a type of dove or pigeon. Was it's nest on the ground? That might help you identify the type of bird it was. I'm very sorry it died. :(

  2. don't know too much about birds but this one looks like a ringneck dove.

  3. It's a bob white quail.

  4. That is a killdeer, and you should have never had it in your possession.  It's illegal.

Adult killdeer do not abandon their young - they run away when threatened by predators, including human predators, like you.   If you would have left the chick alone and stayed out of the area, the parents would have returned.

Killdeer are not fed by the parents.  They can run within one hour of hatching and follow their parents around like ducks.  They forage for their own food.   They did not need your help, and you are responsible for the death of the bird.

Your actions may have been well intentioned, but they were misguided and unnecessary.

Rescue breathing?  Are you kidding?  No, it didn't help.  You probably exploded it's lungs.  You can't give CPR to a small bird.

Please leave wild birds alone.  They are protected by federal law.  You cannot touch them, or take them into your home for any reason.
