  1. Best way is to get the train from gatwick to london and then get the tube from which ever london station you come into to wembley - there'll be loads of trains to the centre, and as for the tube, if you get a tubemap from the net it's easy to follow how to get there, from any station. I think wembley's only on one tube line though, so you will probably need to change tubes once or twice.

There's loads of hotels but hostels are a bit harder to come by. You should look into "travel inn" or equivalent - cheap hotels in london are there if you can find them!

Nightlife is good, not so good in wembley but the centre is only a short tube ride away!

Hope you have a good time - foo fighter gig? I'm not going but i know it's on as you're flying on my bday :) xx

  3. Agree with the transport answers, but the nightlife, give it a wide berth, it's the pits.

Head to Cricklewood and Kilburn, you will be made most welcome.

  4. Q1.  From Gatwick, the cheapest train route into the city is the Southern rail service (i.e. not the Gatwick Express).  You can get off at London Bridge which is on the Jubilee Line, which conveniently goes to Wembley!  But, this is only if you do want to go directly to Wembley because ...

Q2.  No, there are no hostels in Wembley.  Wembley is way out in North West London, and as with most large cities majority of the hostels are in the city centre.  But, London has decent, easy-to-use public transport and you will easily find your way around.  Also, at this time of year, I do NOT recommend that you turn up here without booking a hostel first.  In many parts of the world, students are on their summer holidays already meaning that hostels here are full already.

Q3.  Is the nightlife good in Wembley?  h**l no!  Have you ever watched "The Kumars at No 42"?  It's set in Wembley right ... well, that's what Wembley is like ... full of old Asian couples.  Or are you asking is the nightlife good in London in general?  Then answer is yes for the most part ... if you're central then you'll find some good bars and clubs.  But, beware all the pubs that still observe 11pm closing, even though they don't have to anymore!

  5. A1) Don't go into Central London and use the Tube.

Get a train from Gatwick to Clapham Junction, another train from there to Willesden Junction, and a third train to Wembley Central. You can get a through ticket for this for £9.00 single and it will be cheaper than going through the centre, as well as cutting out having to get through all the crowds. All three services are frequent so don't worry about checking timetables first, but do allow at least 90 mins for the journey. For times and return fares see www.nationalrail.co.uk

A2) No, not in Wembley itself. There are several in the central area which have 24-hour access.

    A3)  ??
