  1. It is not true that elephants were over hunted in all of Africa.  South Africa in particular has always effectively managed there elephant population.  There is no reason that properly managed and controlled hunting should not be allowed.

  2. Well, this is obviously a touchy subject, like all subjects related to hunting.  There is a simple fact we need to face, we, people, as a species compete directly with all other animals for space.  Whether people like it or not, there has to be controlled harvest of certain animals due to their habitat requirements.  All land, no matter how fertile, can only support so much bio-mass, that is a scientific fact.  Since there has been a curtailment of the ivory trade, the number of human/elephant encounters (bad ones) has drastically increased.  A number of governments in Africa have started to allow limited elephant hunts.  These hunts help take care of problem elephants while also giving employment to locals as guides, trackers and other various labour intensive jobs involved in the hunts.  There has been a rather positive economic impact for the locals in areas with high elephant populations and the locals have come to realise that these animals are a valued resource.  The money paid by hunters actually is higher than the income they once received from poaching.  The money paid for fees to hunt the elephants is used to hire more "rangers"  that in turn make it harder to poach.  So yes, I agree with the lifting of the ban on hunting elephants for the reasons stated above, the limited hunting has actually created the situation where not as many elephants are  being killed illegally.

  3. this is not right at all!!!! this is cruel and mean punishment to animals that did not do anything to humans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. What makes the difference is how much habitat is available.

It doesn't do any good to ban hunting, if the ban allows the herd to become large enough to starve itself to death......

  5. i dont agree at all! people dont have to kill elephats so why should we? its mean and its not nessary to kill any animal for this reason. ans elephants are great animals! they dont deserve it and they would never do antthing to us

  6. Elephant hunting should be done just like deer hunting in the USA, you should need a permit and only an appropriate number of Elephants should be harvested in any year.  That way you would have a well managed herd and help prevent poaching.

  7. I'm against it even though elephants help make pianos well who cares elephants are much cuter than a piano come on people

  8. Nope. I do not agree with hunting elephants. The world is overpopulated with stupid people but no one is hunting them. On a more serious note: If left alone, eco-systems have a way of balancing themselves out.  There is no need for human interference. Besides who are we to say that there are too many elephants? I don't think there is enough!
