  1. Yes, the medication or in this case nicotine is released into the blood stream. Many types of meds come in patch form, some are:

    Antidepressants

    Birth control

    Cardiac meds

    High blood pressure meds

The patch does work but you also need to really want to quit to have it be successful.

  2. I think it really releases it, but I don't know many people who actually quite with it.

  3. They worked for me. I used to smoke a pack+ a day of Marlboro Red and once I put on the patch, I never smoked again. It kept me from going crazy. 8 years smoke-free

  4. Transdermal patches are used to deliver a wide variety of medications.  Yes they do work.  Psychological support helps as well, just as believing it won't work will undermine your success.

Had a tip on a hot stock back in 1980, Key Pharmaceutical.  It seems they were developing this "patch" thingie to deliver medication.  Oh what a fool I was not to invest...

  5. I don't smoke but I know people that have used them and they say that they do actually work. The concept of patches being used to release drugs into the blood stream is not new to nicotine. Many perscriptions work this way as well.

  6. Oh, I think it releases nicotine, when I was in the hospital they put a patch on me and I had horrible nightmares (I learned this is a side affect of the patch) I had them remove the patch and I never smoked again after 21 years of it.  It has now been 12 years as non smoker

  7. Yes, good question though.  I've used those patches before, and if I ever find out they've been holding back that nicotine, well I don't know!

There's nicotine in there.  It would be a serious violation of some law if there wasn't...
