I personally think they do, for example Northern lights was changed so much, and they had missed soooo many stuff out, i was so angry!

i have been searching the net and i found out that lots of people think the Abhorsen Triology should be made to a book, i totally agree, those books are my fave. do you think it should?

(i hope you know those books because they are worth reading)

  1. I agree to an extent. For most books, they have to skip loads out to make it more exciting and Hollywood or whatever, but it is annoying.

Jurassic park is an anomaly for me. The film is amazing, the book is amazing, and yet they are completely different - the film missed out so much of the book it's incredible!

  2. Nooo,

Some books aren't descriptive, so it's better to watch them in the theater.

I personally thought Bridge to Terabithia was better in movie form.

  3. I hate most of movies based on books. They are ruined in every sense of the word.

The only movies that I liked that were based on books that I have read  are; the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Holes.

I felt both of them were transfered well even though they were changed.

  4. One movie that actually holds up to the book rather well (and in fact the Producer and Author William Peter Blatty stated at the time of release, that he believed the film was BETTER than his book...) is THE EXORCIST.

  5. Hi I agree with you with the northern light film, I was so dissapointed and didnt like the film because I had read the book and they got half of it wrong too, It has put me off reading a book before the films now as they change them so much, I went and go all the harry potters but wont read them incase they make the films look like a lie, althought people who have read them say they are like the films, maybe it was just northern light they messed up on so badly.

  6. yes harry potter it is the only movie i go to watch in the cinema and it did no give a good impression when i left the theater.

  7. sometimes it ruins it a little but then think of like the lord of the rings. and besides most movies have to have bit cut out, i mean if they had put everything from eragon into the movie, it would take hours to watch, and it would be ridiculously expensive

  8. It's just like anything else -- some movies are better than the book, some books are better than the movie.  I thought for years that any Stephen King book that was made into a movie or television mini-series (like "It" or "The Stand") was terrible, but director Frank Darabont put out three good ones:  "Stand By Me," "The Shawshank Redemption," and "The Green Mile."  I also thought Peter Jackson did an exceptional job with the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.  Now, there are plenty of people that would disagree with me on these, so it just goes to show you that it's also largely a matter of personal opinion...

  9. I don't think they are ruined i just think writers are so good they make to movies feel abit of a let down, but sometimes the movies are true to the books.

  10. 1st off: Captain Howdy, nice obscure nickname!...

I can name off a lot of movies over the last decade or 2 that I think turned out to be really good movies.  The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Godfather (little older), Jurassic Park, Fight Club, and pretty much every Stanley Kubrick film.

  11. Yeh, I think my overactive imagination is more satisfying than a Movie. =]

  12. These are the best movies based on books ever:

    The Godfather

    In Cold Blood

    Of Mice and Men

    The Grapes of Wrath

    The Exorcist

The Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The King

  13. yes because they sometimes if not always change the storyline, add things in or take crucial bits away. this is the case with harry potter and lord of the rings

  14. Yes and sometimes the wrong people are cast to play a certain character and it just spoils the whole thing.

If you read a book before seeing the fifilm you notice just how much they've missed out, its a shame.

  15. Minority Report was a short story by Philip K d**k and Tom Cruise & Stephen Spielberg cr*pped all over it

Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice

    I, Robot - Isaac Asimov

I am Legend - Richard Matheson

  16. I agree with you

    for example harry potter

they left so many stuff out and sometime it does ruin it

this maybe because its a big book and they could fit all into the movie but still, i agree and it ruins it

im not sure if you have even read Twilight Saga but its amazing (in my view)

they have made a film based on the first book and its coming out in November

But ive seen the trailers and im kinda afraid it will turn out cheesy and ruin everything

never heard of the abhorsen trilogy but it the films are good and maybe they should be made into books
