Question:

Do You Think China Was Wrong?

What do you think about this lip syncing scandal at the Olympic's opening ceremony in Beijing. For those who may not have heard, during the opening there was a song sung by a very adorable little girl. It was later revealed that the voice heard was not actually hers, but rather that of another little girl who they felt wasn't 'cute' enough?

Was this a low move? Was it ok? What are your thoughts?

  1. It's nothing worse than what we do here.  We have lip syncers all over national TV.

It was silly that they didn't think the original singer was cute (I saw her picturee).

  2. I thought it was pretty low,  but the little girl's family said it was a great honor. At least she knows she has a very nice voice worthy of an Olympic opening ceremony.

  3. Yes, they were wrong

  4. china is never wrong.

  5. Very wrong!

  6. It was wrong. I'm boycotting all Chinese buffets for the next 2 hours.

  7. That was totally Wong....I mean wrong.

  8. Is there nothing more interesting in life than to challenge the Chinese for using a voice that wasn't the singers' - film makers have been doing it for years.

  9. I think it was wrong- what message are they sending that little girl that she's not cute enough. Of course the family said they were honored the government probably told them to say that.

  10. Yes

  11. China has been bootlegging stuff and making counterfeit goods for decades. Should their counterfeiting a ceremony be any surprise?

It's just their culture. By Western standards, it's low. By their standards, it's perfectly normal.

  12. Not very ethical, but not uncommon anywhere that public relations people are involved. If you were only aware how easily manipulated the public has become, using technology and special effects, you would be amazed.

  13. see these two girls' picture here:

  14. It's low, but the Chinese haven't been the first to do it.

  15. It was wrong and it shows the lengths China will go to acheive a goal.

  16. We do the same thing here...

I saw a photo of the other girl. Looked ok to me.

  17. Yes, that is wrong. They said the girl who actually sang was too chubby with crooked teeth. What 9 year old isn't "chubby" with crooked teeth. I actually think the girl who really sang would have been a better representative as she was just as, if not cuter than the girl who was lip-syncing.

They also enhanced certain parts of the opening ceremonies with computer animation. The fireworks you saw on TV were not entirely real.

And now, there is talk that the Chinese Women's Gymnastics Team has underage members. Members of the press have found Chinese websites and news articles that show the age of half the team is bellow 16.

  18. I don't agree with China's actions. I want to see the real little girl sing it.....  perhaps at the closing ceremony to redeem the Chinese public image in the least.
