Hey guys,

I make at least $1300/month (After tax reductions),

Right now saved, I have $1,300.

By July 31, I have to pay my school tuition of $1670.

By Aug. 1, I have to pay my rent of $450/mo. (that includes utilities)...

I just need a used car. Nothin fancy, but it should be reliable.

Can I afford one?

And around how much does it cost when you buy a used car. like.. say a down payment of $1500, plus the monthly rent, plus a maintenance check, plus insurance, what else?

Thanks, I'd really appreciate your help.

  1. It will be tight not kidding you here.

I would stick with a very inexpensive car like a Hyundai Accent.

Get a used one for under $1,000 pay cash that way you do not have to carry Fire, Theft, and Collision insurance. Just carry the minimum amount required by law.

The Accent is very good on gas and reliable.

  2. I think Jeremy nailed it down to the car model. When buying an used car make sure it doesn't look like it's been thrashed about and it'll probably be reliable.

Congratulation on being able to support your studies out of your own money while living on your own, there's not many people that do that where I come from.

By the way, if you get a diesel car there's a chance it can run on any old oil so it could save you money on gas. good luck.

  3. my dad is a used car salesmen and sold a really good car for only $1,000 bucks

go to a self owned business like my dad

u buy it from a person who is not apart of a company but has a good little business and mite share the garage with someone else
