  1. Stats mean nothing.  No one gives scholarships to pieces of paper, but to players.

To even play in college, you have to be better than 99% of all of the other players in your school, your league, your state.  In other words, you have to dominate your position.  You need to make all-league honors.  To play at the Division 1 level, you have to even be better than that.

You also need good academics.  Check with your school counselor or coach to get the list of classes you need to take and do well in.

  2. You can be the best player around, but if you don't have the grades, start looking at playing for a community college.

  3. I think you have a good shot at playing D1 but you really need to hit the weight room more and get your bench and squat max up. That way you'll gain some weight too.

  4. 1st question, does your school have good prestige? so you have enough publicity for scouts and coaches to see you?, for defensive end, even as a hybrid 210 is lighter than some pro style quarterbacks, even though your only a sophmore you need to hit the weight room, anything to gain weight, and do you have good form, get low on the line, dont jump offsides, small things can kill you when your being scouted, work hard train in the offseason, stay fit, only 10% of high school football players make it to college, and hit college football camps its a great way for coaches to get a good look at you.

  5. Your stats mean nothing to any college going in to evaluate you. If you dont put up results you could run a 4.5, bench 225, squat 450 and not one single recruiter will care (D-I anyways, you might get D-II or D-III looks on those numbers). Bottom line is you have to produce big on the field, NEVER take a play off and because you arent exactly a freak of nature with size and numbers you need to be an academic star as well. I have a good friend who's son went to a Big 10 linebacker camp 6 or 7 years ago and had the slowest 40 time and was middle of the pack with all other numbers. But on the field he showed up every single play and was always around the ball. He also had the flu during this camp and still won outstanding linebacker (he was a Blue Chip recruiting mag. player but not a high school All American or even All State). He got several Big 10 offers, and ND discussed a scholarship also, along with a handful of other D-I teams. Oh yea, he was an academic All American honorable mention. None of the Big 10 schools felt he was a starter type but felt he was a good effort kid who would be a hard worker and coachable. He also would help with the academic record at any chosen school. Solid athletes who keep their noses clean, are an asset to their community (volunteer if you can), get top grades, are coachable and in general are good kids get the last few scholarships, not numbers guys (getting their share of the All Americans is the easy part and if nobody has seen you yet chances are you need to be thinking along the 2nd level recruiting group, that is where they earn their money so they really buckle down with that group).

Give 110% like like you mentioned and be responsible in your assignments (college coaches will watch film to see if you are in your proper position at all times), make sure you are coachable (again they will ask character questions from your coach) and give the same 110% in your schoolwork....teams increasingly avoid bad students due to NCAA policies that can affect recruiting.
