Because we say buy the music to support the artist, but what we don't know is the artist hardly makes money from an album they make less then about then 1.50 per album and even less from a single, they get money from endorsements, tours, merchandise, clothing, and sometimes movies. We might as well get the music free cause its the record labels that make the money, the only way and artist would make money if a)they release it with no record label help) [ex.Radiohead] or b)Write, produce, and distribute on there own.Pirating is never gonna stop so make it free

  1. It is free already.  You only pay for it if you want to.

  2. frankly no

  3. Radiohead had a very strong following before that, so many people would buy their album no matter who put it out (I know I would/did)

Without a record company pushing a band, they'll never get sales (in most cases).

Also, 1.50 is from the WHOLESALE price, not the retail value, so that's like 1/3 of the money, plus the record label has to pay for all the production and actual making of the physical CDs, so the band gets like 1/2 the profit in the end.

  4. it is free its called peer sharing
