I am going on an interview for a nanny position for a 2 year old. What would you think if I came to your home for an interview? I have a 3 year old son, I have babysat for twins (7 months old) I am CPR certified and am a registered Emergency Medical Technician. Just going by that what do you think my chances are say over a college student on break with no children?

  1. We have hired several nannies to care for our twins, we have 2 sets :D!  I would definately hire someone with experience with children, someone with CPR and medical training over a college student.  But that said, the most important factor for me has always been the interview itself.  I looked at the demeanor of the person interviewing, how they reacted to my questions, their personal style, how they engaged my children and thier references.

Be sure to ask questions about the children (if you can ask to meet the child or children), the parenting style that is preferred, and how the children should be engaged (what activities they expect from you).  I always hated it when the people that came for an interview did not have questions for me...they normally did not make my short list.

    Good Luck!!

  2. I would rather hire someone with experience with their own child, and with the medical background...most parents themselves don't even know how to do CPR.  Good Luck!!

  3. I would rather hire someone with experience, than someone with education.  Make sure you have your references with you at the interview

  4. Wow.... I mean.... I would just expect a bunch of people to come to my house and saying that I want to be your nanny. LOL. But I think you are probably going to get the job. I bet you will. Chances seem good.
