Need speech therapists?

I'm wondering b/c I'm going to be a college freshman in the fall, and I am going to major in communication studies with a concentration in speech and hearing science.

Do a lot of Hispanic/Latino kids require speech-language pathologists when learning to speak English properly?

Are speech-language pathologists also required when these kids have trouble pronouncing words in their native tongue as well?

Also, I've heard that a lot of employers look for bilingual speech therapists, especially those that know Spanish. So, would Spanish be an appropriate minor or double major for my career path?

  1. Speech and language pathologists work with people who have problems with actually forming NATIVE speech because of physical or psychological reasons, not really with pronunciation due to language differences (that's what ESL or ELL teachers do). Spanish is always a good major or minor if you plan to work in California or a state with a high Hispanic population.
