  3. Yes, almost everyone in Iceland can speak some English and most of the nation speaks it rather well or even fluently. All children in Iceland must learn English in school, as their second or third language.

    The group that is least likely to speak English is the elders. Not many of them speak English, because there was much more emphasis on learning Danish when they were young.

  4. Here's what I already told someone who asked just about the same question earlier:

    Pretty much everyone in Iceland understands English and speak it very well. Children are required to learn English in school (along with Danish) and American music and movies are very popular there. English is my native tongue yet from time to time I'd find my grammar being corrected by an Icelander! The only people who may not know English or may not speak it very well are those who are older or live deep in the country.
