Do a lot of people relocate by themselves?

I want to relocate to another city. But the thought of going to another city all alone scares me. What would be the easiest way to relocate? Do a lot of people move to other cities without knowing anyone in the city? Does this happen alot? Or do you have to know someone first?

I've moved twice to different countries on my own withouth knowing anyone there.

It takes awhile to get to know people but if you are either studying or working you'll get there eventually. I got housemates as well and that way you get to know them plus all of their friends.
