Do adopted people always know their exact birthday?

I know two people who were adopted.. one that was born in this country and one that wasn't.

Both still have their birth certificates and know exactly when and where they were born.

Usually adopted children will have records of their birth and know things about themeselves from birth, such as their birthday. This only applies however, to adopted children within developed nations that were given up for adoption and not left somewhere to be found. Children born in countires such as Korea, Vietnam, Sudan may not have proper records. Also people adopted a long time ago even within the US may not have birth records because our system was less organized back then.
