Do african clawed frogs move very much?

I've read that they didn't and mine didn't either until I changed his water yesterday. I'm only asking this because I'm not sure if he's agitated by the ph level in the water or that he's glad the waters changed. He's sort of swimming towards the edge of the tank like he's tryin to go farther but he's only about an inch big so I don't need to get a bigger tank just yet and then sometimes he goes to the top of the water and just sits there like he needs more air.

I'm jumping at little changes because he's a new pet as a matter of fact the first pet I've ever had and I don't want anything to happen to him.

  1. ya they move lol

I have two of them and when I brought them home they were swimming' up a storm. They sleep a lot! So most of the time you will just see them all sprawled out at the bottom of the tank or looks like he is sitting at the top of the water. But from what I hear they are nocturnal. So, if they do move  it will mainly be at night. Although, mine are pretty active during the day. I guess it just depends on the sleeping habit of your frogs.
