  1. Depends on which carrier.

    1) Pilots are paid base pay(salary)

    plus flight pay(an hourly wage)

    and

    Per Diems

    2) Other carriers have Base pay + milage + Per Diems

Also it depends on the circumstances on the cancellation.

If he's waiting on the ramp his duty day is ticking if he can't get up and his duty day expires ops won't reschedule him, Since he needs his legal rest.

If he was cancelled by operations flight was "cancelled" before he clocked in, he's going to be rescheduled for another flight.

Most pilots fly 80 hrs a month, again, depends on the carrier, the union etc. But if he is told to go home or stay home, he'll make up the hours.  if he's  sitting in the plane because of WX or "delays"  he's on the clock he won't make up the hours and he's getting "paid" to sit...

But again, he's already making his base salary.

Flight hours/time/milage is extra and so are per diems.

So he's already getting paid but not to the "maximum" he'd like to be getting paid.

  2. Yes. If they have signed up to flight a particular flight and it is cancelled they still get paid for that flight.

  3. Yes,  as airline pilots are not paid per flight.
