Do airlines hire before receiving ordered aircraft or they hire during, or they hire after?......?

In general, I'm in college and I want to fly for an airline which has ordered over 60 aircraft scheduled to start being delivered from 2012! I'm left with five years to complete college and will then go for my pilot training. I think I will finish everything by 2017 and will apply to that airline of my choice. Does anyone think I will get a job at that time?

Way....back... in my day( 69-70)..United Airlines ordered 109 Boeing 727s-737s, and I was graduating flite school at the time...United forgot to tell us each Jet replaced 3 prop airplanes so they had extra crews...all with seniority, so we flew other 'old' aircraft until we had a bit of experience and could hold the plane of our dreams. Many in my graduating 'class' didn't get picked up by the majors..some flew regionals their complete career, some are still flight instructing, and a few gave up and got a real job in an office somewhere.

The real key is to be ready when 'they' are ready to hire someone...Be the best, understand and know the feel of your plane in flight. Your time will come.

You've asked this question twice on this forum already!, just go get your commercial licence first before even thinking of become hired by Qatar!

Newly trained pilots generally just find any airline that pays them the same amount or better.., who cares if you can't get into Qatar theres plenty more airlines out there....

I don't know about the airline you have in mind, but it also depends on whether the airline is phasing out other aircraft, or is simply adding the 60. Considering that you you will not be ready until at least five years after the first deliveries, it doesn't sound as if this 60-aircraft order will be a huge factor in your own prospects. By that time, other possibilities could be in the picture, as well. Nine years is a long time in today's changing aviation environment.
